About Life, Shaken Not Stirred

Hey there! I’m really glad you stumbled in (however you managed to find me)!

You know how some people seem perfectly content just skimming the surface of life?  Never really questioning much?  Just living in the well-worn paths that were usually created by those that came before them.  That was most of my family members, but yeah..not me. I was the kid who’d ask my grandma why Jello-o jiggles the way it does, or asked my mom why can’t I only eat cheese for all the meals every day of the week…or, honestly, questioning myself why I’m laughing when someone else is being tickled–becasue that’s weird, right?!? I am the person who can't just accept that something works—I need to know HOW it works, WHY it works, and WHAT happens if we shake things up a little.

Welcome to my world of endless questions, some discoveries, and maybe a few "wait, what just happened?" moments.

A Little About Me (and Why I Can't Stop Digging Deeper)

I grew up in a little town in Idaho where everyone knew everyone, (and yes, the grocery store clerk usually knew if you were dating someone new before your mom did) and people seemed to just do things because that's the way they are done. They accepted life as it was; it was simplicity at its finest. Unfortunately for my parents—or as some kind of karmic payback to them—curiosity was just part of my DNA and my endless need to understand all the whys drove them absolutely insane.

When I got to college, I faced that dreaded question: "What's your major?" My answer changed practically every semester for the first 2 years.  My poor advisor gave up on me by sophomore year!  When I was finally forced to pick a major, the logical choice was Liberal Arts and Science. Not because I couldn't decide, but because I wanted to learn about E V E R Y T H I N G. Architecture, interior design, archeology, science, psychology, literature, music—why limit myself to just one fascinating corner of the world?

That curiosity eventually dropped me here–somehow–as Director of Operations at a medical clinic (not exactly where I thought I’d land when I was 18 and changing majors like socks). But let me tell you, working in healthcare has only made me hungrier to understand how our bodies actually work, what they need, and why so much of what we've been told might not be the whole story.

Why This Blog Exists (Spoiler: It's All About the Questions)

Here's the thing—I believe we're living in a world of information overload and confusion. Everyone’s an expert, every study contradicts the last, and half the time it feels like we’re just throwing darts blindfolded when it comes to health.

That's where my superpower comes in. I ask questions. Lots of them. The kind that dig past the headlines and get to the foundation of things. I'm not here to tell you what to think—I'm here to share what I've learned, shake up the "norm" a little, and maybe help create some clarity in all the chaos.

We're going to dive deep into topics that fascinate me (and hopefully you too). Vitamin C—sure, we all know “it’s good for you.” But why? How? And what really happens when you dig in deeper? Gut health, breast health, the vagus nerve and stress management, and all the ways our bodies are constantly trying to heal themselves. And maybe some human observations thrown in for good measure because people are endlessly fascinating, aren't they?

The Real Talk Section

Living with EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) has basically been my crash course in realizing just how precious—and annoyingly fragile—our health really is. It's made me hyper-aware that we only get one body, and we better treat it like the miracle it is. I'm interested in living as long as humanly possible—not just surviving, but thriving. Living life to the fullest with strength, energy, and maybe even a little grace.

I've learned that health isn't a destination; it's a journey filled with setbacks, breakthroughs, and those "aha!" moments that change everything. Some of those lessons came the hard way, but they've all led me here—to this conversation with you.

What You Can Expect

Truthfully? I have no idea where this journey’s going to take us–or in what order we’ll end up tackling things. I'm starting with Vitamin C because…well, I have to start somewhere. But expect the unexpected. We might veer into fascinating research, challenge conventional wisdom, or discover something that completely changes how we think about our bodies and what we put in them.

What I can promise is this: everything I share will come from a place of genuine curiosity and thorough research. No surface-level fluff, no regurgitated advice you can find everywhere else. Just real exploration, honest questions, and hopefully some clarity in a confusing world.

Think of this less like a lecture and more like two friends over coffee—asking awkward questions, challenging the status quo, and admitting when we just plain don’t know yet.

Ready to shake things up a little? Let's dive in together (and hey, if you brought snacks, even better)!
